Below are the abbreviations I often use in my personal diary.

1st round

Original Short Thoughts
you u The 1st-person pronoun 'I' is 1 letter (1L); thus, 'you' should be 1L too.

the þ (th) The article 'a' is 1L; thus, 'the' should be 1L too. Omit the letter "e" & use the "thorn" letter.
and n / & Everybody pronounces this as just "n" or "an"; thus, it's nonsensical to write "and." Eg. Rock n Roll.
should shd Found in Merriam-Webster dictionary.
them em Eg. Hold'em
somebody sb Often seen in dictionaries.

people ppl The kanji for person/people is "人". Admire how simple it is, with only 2 strokes.

I omitted very common ones such as months, days, directions, & measure units.

Now, many words are shortened to 2 or 3 letters. Technically, we can assign a word to each of 676 combinations of 2 letters. If we managed to remember all of them, our writing would be much effective. Somebody already tried this & established a method: Yublin shorthand
