How to play:
"Word Riddle" is a browser game in which you guess a five-letter (5L) English word. The player has to make a guess and press the "Enter" button. The color of the squares will change, showing how close your guess was to the solution.- Green: the letter is in the correct place.
- Yellow: the letter is in the solution, but in the wrong place.
- Gray: the letter is not in the solution.
Tweaks:
This is similar to a popular game, but I (Allen) added several tweaks to make it more enjoyable for some players.The number in the left shows how many possibilities there was at that point. It began with 2400, which is the number of words in the solution list. It will go down as the game gives more clues.
The first guess is random. It can't be the solution; thus, there's no "hole in one." Instead, at least one yellow or green is guaranteed on the first guess.
Repeated letters:
Entering a word with the same letters, such as Green, will give a little special result.If the solution is Tease & the input is Green, there are 2 e's in both the solution & input. In this case, both e's will be yellow.

In short, the repeated letters will be yellow or green up to the number included in the solution.
Additional information:
Players can use the screen keyboard or the physical keyboard.Plural nouns, 3rd-person singular verbs, and past tense verbs can be guessed, but never be solutions.
When you reload the page, it will automatically resume the previous game.
Since the first guess is chosen at random, there are 4,487,812 possible initial states for the game. Among them, there are 55,369 patterns (about 1.2%) where there is only one possible solution. If it were not for the system "at least one yellow or green is guaranteed on the first guess, but it can't be 5 greens," there are 5,760,000 (= 2400 x 2400) patterns.
